Kelley’s Unique Experience
Kelley’s two decades of experience in the intellectual property field give her unique insights into the value of brand assets and how social media and digital commerce affect the protection of those assets. Kelley’s career began with seven years with “boots on the ground” working for the National Intellectual Property Law Institute, a former “think tank” in Washington, D.C. During that time, she traveled to nearly 20 countries, including China, Turkey, Malaysia, and South Africa, working with U.S. and foreign embassies and high level government, academic, industry, and judicial personnel on issues related to IP and global trading.
She spent the next five years working for two of the largest IP law firms in the Washington, D.C. area. Kelley has extensive experience in preparing, filing, and prosecuting matters before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and the U.S. Copyright Office. She has worked on legal transactions in over 200 jurisdictions around the world, including transactions with megabrands like DISNEY, TOYOTA, and SAFEWAY, among others.
In 2010, following a move to Pennsylvania, Kelley opened her own intellectual property law firm, The Keller Law Firm, and later a business education company where she joined the world of entrepreneurship. In 2017, Kelley is scaling back her private representation of clients through The Keller Law Firm to allow more time for her business education work. She also writes about trademarks, copyrights, social media, and business law for small business owners and entrepreneurs for numerous online and offline publications.
Kelley received her bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University where she graduated magna cum laude. She received her Juris Doctor of Law, cum laude, from The Catholic University of America.
